LCA software is rapidly evolving into the cornerstone of green product portfolios. With the information that LCA provides, important sustainability decisions can be made early on in the life cycle of a product’s design. As a company’s environmental responsibility and sensitivity to diminishing natural resources become selling points, companies will be held to a much higher level of accountability for their design and production. A product designer will be able to use complex tools such as LCA software to identify key impact areas and make cost effective decisions while accounting for environmental impact concerns (5).
